Post Office Planning Application
A planning application has just been made to redevelop the building which houses the Post Office and pharmacy on Greenwich High Road (21/1542/F). The applicant acknowledges that this will mean the displacement of the Post Office during redevelopment and suggests it might either be housed temporarily at the back of the site or on the nearby car park near Sainsbury’s store. No mention is made about any temporary accommodation for the pharmacy. The options suggested appear unsatisfactory.
These are important public services and The Greenwich Society considers that the applicant should be required to produce an acceptable proposal for how they would be accommodated during redevelopment before a decision is made on the planning application. This would then be a condition of any consent.
Councillor O’Mara is pressing hard for this to be done and it would strengthen the case if members who use the services would lodge objections to the planning application on these grounds. This can be done either by using the consultation facility on the council planning website or sending an e-mail to roisin.butler@royalgreenwich.gov.uk copied to neil.willey@royalgreenwich.gov.uk”
