Open Gardens Weekends

The Open Gardens Festival in aid of the Community Hospice is going live again after last year’s Virtual openings. We will have 30 or more gardens open in Eltham, Blackheath and Greenwich - with a couple in Charlton and Lee as well - over the two weekends of June 12th/13th and June 26th/27th from 2 to 6 in the afternoon.  For those of you who have been before, there are some newcomers - I urge you to check the website for latecomers as well as looking at the leaflet which I attach to this email.  I don’t need to tell you what a worthwhile cause the hospice - too many of us know from personal experience what a wonderful job they do and this year of Covid has meant that they have had a lot more work helping look after people in their homes as well as in the Hospice building itself.   Don’t be misled by the teacup sign on the leaflet. Some people are offering tea but I am afraid that you won’t find tea at my house. There will as usual be  a glass of Pimms or wine instead.  I would so much like to see you and I personally am keeping my garden open all four days of those two weekends in the hope of seeing old friends and acquaintances.   And please tell your friends and neighbours about the Open Garden Festival as well.
It is easy to buy tickets on the website - in fact we would urge you to do so - but there will be tickets for sale at the door.  And if you can’t make either weekend, then you could buy a ticket and give it to a friend instead!
Stop press:
1) since May 10th, the acacia tree is no more.  Come and tell me what I should put in its place.
2) Martha Oakes at 113 Heathwood Gardens, Chartlon, SE7 8ET, is open on the 13th and not the 12th
