The Greenwich Society

Greenwich Society Annual Lecture

The annual lecture took place on Sunday 22nd November at 11am in the Lecture Theatre of the National Maritime Museum with the title -

"A Cargo of Comestibles: Fortnum & Mason and the Well-Fed Traveller"

The speaker was Dr Andrea Tanner, FSA, FSG - Fortnum and Mason's Archivist

The Society was treated to a fascinating talk from Andrea - replete with information about Fortnum and Mason's history, activities and the care it bestowed and still bestows on the breadth of its provisions and the 'family' of staff. It was a talk full of delightful stories and incident and opened a window on a family firm that is so much more than a shop.
